Cool Anyone have Costachondritis????

Hi,

I've had this condition for nearly 3 years now, and I was wondering if there is anybody else out there in this weird and wonderful world that has it as well, or may think they have it!! I need someone else to talk to other than my GP.

Re: Anyone have Costachondritis????

I have it.

I developed mine after being hit by a car. Finally after 2.5 years, its subsided to the point where I don't have pain everyday. Its an occasional thing. I went through 2.5 years of everyday pain but now its occasional.

So it will go away eventually.

Re: Anyone have Costachondritis????

Hi,

Thanks, it got to the stage a few months ago, I was taking tablets morning, noon and night because the pain was constant, touch wood, I haven't had a pain for a few weeks. Did you find any link to the pain appearing?

Re: Anyone have Costachondritis????

I did actually. I should add, I got the majority of my pain on the sides of the ribcage then in the middle part.

Cold seemed to be one of them. I found if I was outside on a cooler day I would be fine, until I came in and warmed up. The cold seemed to make the pain worse, but if I put a hot water bottle on it, I would feel better.

Another was if I didn't wear a bra (I wasn't sure by your username if you were female or not). I'm not even sure why that was. I just know that it did cause pain if I went without for a period of time.

The other one which seemed to cause the most was sleeping with my arms tucked in. Again, I don't know why. I just know when I slept with my hands under my head, I'd be fine but if I slept with my arms more into my body it made it alot worse.

Stress also caused it to flair up as well. Having an anxiety problem on top of that doesn't help. I would have panic attacks which caused me to throw up and that would make it hurt 10x more then anything else.

That's about all I can think of. Like I said, for a couple of them I don't know why it made it appear, but it constantly did.

Re: Anyone have Costachondritis????

I was diagnosed 5 yrs ago, mine develped after a fall off a hillside, I get most of my pain around the 4th and 5th costo area, I've had injections in that area and it helps alot, in fact I just had an injection 2 months ago and it has been fine for along time. Talk to your pain managment dr at least you get some partial relief. It is a form of arthritis by the way.
