I have been having problems with taking my asthma medications for the past few months with irritation and my airway closing off when I try to use the inhalers. I saw my allergist today and he said that I have GERD. He said that the acid is irritating my voicebox and that when the medication hits the already sensitive voicebox it spasms. I have never had any heartburn symptoms in my life and rarely have stomach problems. He looked in my mouth and listened to my symptoms and based his diagnosis on that. This would explain why I have been having issues with strange feelings in the base of my throat and hoarseness. He told me to take prilosec OTC and follow-up with my primary care doctor (which I don't have one at the moment). Is this common to have GERD without having heartburn?
i have that really bad egg taste in my mouth everytime i burp right now.... its awful!! so its acid then is it? ive just had a wee sickness bug, so maybe they're linked?!
