confused!

Hello everyone!
I need a little advice here.....I live in a very small town and a Gym just opened a few weeks ago. There is no contract to sign and you pay $25 a month. For the $25 you can either go to the classes they have at scheduled times. Or you can use their treadmills and stairsteppers and othe equipment that they have to offer. If you want to use the equipment AND go to the classes, you would have to pay $50 a month.

I have about 15 pounds to loose and I really do like to excersize, I am just not sure wich would be more beneficial. I am not looking for an "overnite miracle", but I would like to know if anyone can tell me which would be better for me. I know that any excersise is good exercise, but on the other hand I do not want to build up muscle, I just want to drop a few pounds and stay healthy. In the Spring my husband & I go on bike rides with our daughter, but I need something for the winter.

Thanks for any advice!

Kim

Re: confused!

Is there a way you could try both, like one month the classes then the next month the equipment. Because I used to belong to a gym and didn't really enjoyed the machines for cardio as much as I liked aerobics. Although I do love the machines that are used for toning! Being a previous jazzercise fan, I just used the facility for swimming and toning cause I LOVE to swim. Then, when life got busier, I got into videos and love buying different ones because I realized that I need some challenge when doing aerobics. So, I worked my way up to advanced choreography (videos) and find them challenging and quite fun. But, everyone is different. You may really enjoy the classes and find the machines boring. Or you may like the machines. You'll probably have the option of using free weights in the classes which are effective in toning. It all depends on what you like! Your more than likely not going to exercise if you don't like what you are doing. Pick which one you like better even if it's just a little bit more than the other. I would try the classes then the machines to see what you like or vise versa. Do you have the option of trying both?

Re: confused!

Well, classes are good an all, but if all you have to loose is 15lbs, I suggest just using machines. This way, you can go at your own pace, whether it be faster or slower than the classes.

Re: confused!

I'd use the machines for strength workouts and run to and from the gym for aerobics.

If the only "equipment" though is stairsteppers and treadmills, these are only aerobic machines and I'd probably NOT join the gym (but that's me.)

Are their any strength machines?
