Question Mild & good smelling dandruff shampoo???

My teenage daughter just started showing those icky white flakes on her dark brown hair and I don't know a thing about dandruff shampoo except for the memory of the blue stinky stuff my dad used to use in the shower.

Any suggestions for a nice smelling dandruff shampoo?

Thx,
Seabell

Most likely your daughter just has "dry scalp". Put "Sea Breeze Astringent" on scalp using an eye dropper or something like a squirt bottle. Put on scalp only and then reach under hair and massage into scalp. This is what salons do for little ole ladies that have itchy scalps. I have bee using it for a long time and it works.

The good thing about Sea Breeze is that it does not mess up the hairdo. If she will use this each time she shampoos the flakes will mostly go away.

Sea Breeze is sold in drug stores or grocery stores.

I dunno Kre.. I started getting dandruff as a result of puberty changes too.. and the seabreeze treatment didn't work at all for me.

but if it doesn't work for her.. Nizoral is *really* good. It's a little expensive at $10 a bottle, *but* just a little bit, enough to cover the scalp, is plenty and you only have to use it twice a week. Plus I've found that once I get it under control I don't acctually have to treat it again untill the next major climate change upsets it, and the stuff smells pretty nice.. it's no fruit organza but it doesn't smell nasty like that tar stuff.

Also one thing I found with mine is if I went to bed with wet hair.. that really irritated it and no dandruff shampoo would help if I didn't dry it before bed.

hope that helps

The best dandruff shampoo i know if is Neutrogena T/gel. It's not very mild though, I'm afraid. It doesn't smell nice and it looks like tar in a bottle, but it really helps and elimiates dandruff.

Thx for the responses. We have Seabreeze in the house, great face cooling item esp. in this hot humid weather. Never heard of putting it on your scalp thou. I would think it would dry out the scalp more?? But we'll try it.

She usually falls asleep with her hair wet in the summer so I'll have to get her to dry it beforehand and see if that helps.

If not, we'll try the shampoos mentioned.

Thx again!
