I'm freakin'!

My question to you all is how do you change the way you think? My problem is that I automatically assume the worst possible thing when anything little happens. Last week it was my foot, this week it's my lungs. I'm a healthy (that I am aware of) 25 year old and I know this anxiety is making me a worse mother. I am obessively checking the internet for lymph node disorders, lung cancer and anything else it could be. For a second I thought that the muscles in my back have been so tense (from carrying my little boy and just my anxiety) that it was kinda screwing up my breathing. I'm not wheezy, I can actually breathe fine, just when I move from side to side and tense the muscles up in my back a funny wheezing noise comes from my mouth. I'm so scared. I was on celexa for a while, but it caused headaches so now I have to find something else. Anyone out there have any words of wisdom for me?

CBT. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. That teaches you the tricks of how to deal with those. I hear at least. I am trying to start CBT very soon...

Yes. Stop looking up illnesses on the internet. I've turned into a complete basket case because of this. I'm a paying a price now because of it.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck.

I have to agree. I am a backetcase too. Even the doctor told me not to self-diagnose

Re: I'm freakin'!

to lexd, sounds like hypochondria, learning how to relax would help, also books on how to stop worrying would have useful advice

celexa is 1 of many prozac type meds and these can help, early side effects can be a nusiance and can be reduced by halving the dose for the first 2 weeks and taking some valium as well

a doc who can calm you and reassure you would be a big help but sadly these docs are rare, many refuse to take your problems seriously
