Post hypnotherapist?

Has anyone here been to a hypnotherapist?
Has it worked? I'm so tired of being on meds that my
Dr say is working because I don't have actual "Panic attacks" anymore "thats the meds working" she says
but the fear of having on is just as bad if not worse as an actual attack. I have been on a couple of different meds in the past low doses but still I can't stand it anymore. I started with xanx when I was 23 now I'm 31 and have tried paxil, welbutrien, zoloft all with the same results- no attacks but scared to death that one will come on..and now depression has set in.
I can't work because of this and have to rely on my mom and my boyfriend it's horrible and embrassing. I also want to stop smoking because thats not helping me either
I figure there has to be some light at the end of this dark
panic/depression tunnel. Now I'm scared if I go off my med which is now zoloft..I'm gonna have bad withdrawal...
the fear never ends..so I'm looking into hypnotherpy if anyone has had luck with this please let me know

Re: hypnotherapist?

Hi rose30,

I've tried meds and therapy and self-help and the lot. At the start of summer I went for some hypnosis and the bottom line is if you want to be hypnotised, you will. You have to go with it. It is an incredibly relaxing experience and though I can't say it stopped my panic attacks it did reduce the amount of anxious symptoms I had and their intensity. It did WONDERS for my happiness, I felt on top of the world afterwards.

I was given about 5 sessions then told to bugger off with a tape (This was just my GP doing it) and it all went awry again. As soon as the hypnosis (for me) was gone, my anxiety came back so in a way it was like the predicament with meds - you come off them and you're back to your old self.

I would definitely give it a go because I've been told people have been CURED with it. You've got nothing to lose anyway!

Re: hypnotherapist?

Hi Junglemonkey,

ThankYou so much for answering me!
I have been trying so hard to over come this.
I am gonna look into the hypnotherapy though.
Sometimes I think the medication makes it worse.
what have your experiences with meds been like?
