Question coffee and questions

I know a lot of people here are going to lecture me, but I simply can't live without my coffee . Here's my question. Usually I have one coffee when I wake up, and only suffer GERD at night. I know that coffee worsens GERD for a variety of reasons (stimulates acid production, lowers the tone of the lower esophageal sphincter, etc). Does anyone know how long after consuming coffee these effects last? Would this morning coffee be causing my nighttime GERD? I take 75mg of zantac before bed, and it usually does the trick.
My other question, is: a few days ago, I had 3 coffees spread throughout the day (this is rare), and since then, nothing I do relieves this burning, which is now here 24 hours a day. I have tried gaviscon (which I used all the time before my doctor prescribed zantac) and I've tried increasing my dose of zantac (the doc originally prescribed 150mg twice a day), which makes me extremely dizzy. Do people get flare-ups of GERD where things are bad for a few days but then get better? This is driving me bonkers .
Thanks for listening!

Re: coffee and questions

hey, drinking the coffee in the morning, couldnt of bothered you at night, it would of happened like a hour to 3 hours later. and yes gerd can go away then come back a few days later. zantac is not stong enough for u huney. you need something like prevacid thats really strong. that got rid of my reflux permanety. i took that for 6 months than stopped, because my hearburn went away and my food coming up my pipe went awya, but also i changed my diet, to eating chicken and fish, and a lot of vegetables and fruit. no coffee thats very bad for acid reflux!!! 100% apple juice. not citric acid drinks. you cant drink alcohol or eat chocalte or have anything acidy or spicy. or have any tomatoes. my dr told me. have these things very rarely. modrearte amounts is okay. excerise is good. dont sit down after u eat, because your putting pressure on your dueduoem, and abdomen, and the food needs time to digest first, so wait like 20minutes before you sit down after u eat. then you wont get heartbrun or food coming back upo your pipe, okay.take care!! good luck!! christine
