Taking suboxone tips?

Alright, is there any tips on how to take suboxone. I put it under my tongue and it seems like it takes an hour to dissolve. They are very particular on making sure it is allowed to dissolve slowly. I have seen where some people say it takes the 5-10 minutes but it seems to take me forever to get 1-8mg tablet to dissolve. Also I researched a ton of posts and forums and can't believe there hasn't been more complaining about the taste. It has been a godsend for me and the benefits far outweigh the few side effects I am having(dry mouth and dizziness......anybody else?). The taste of this stuff is killing me though, and I am only taking one at a time. I go to my doc tomorrow and I think he is going to have me take my full dose(16 or 24mg) all at the same time in the am. I don't know what I will do about that. I am hoping somebody has figured some way to make this a little easier somehow.

Re: Taking suboxone tips?

Hi Murph!

OK....they are a little nasty, but I did a little experiment yesterday and it seemed to work.
Right before you do one GARGLE with tap temperature water.I did that yesterday, and the first one melted in like 3 minutes. Then, gargle again before you do each one.
I didn't gargle in between,so the first one went fast, but the next two took a long time..maybe 20 minutes.
I've felt like I've had chronic dry mouth for the last few days.I/you/we should also probably be drinking a ton of water just in General.
Some people say no eating or drinking for 10 minutes before or after, but when I was at my doc's,he handed me a little sparkletts bottle to get rid of the chalk with when I was done.

Also, yesterday was the first day I did 24mgs all at once, and I got sick.Just dry heaves...(I haven't been eating much) ...but it was no fun
My stomach's been pretty sensitive lately, ever since my other Doctor(the QUACK I went to before the sub MD) put me on that zonogran stuff....I felt sick every time I took the zonogran, and then when he told me to take 200mgs a night,I started throwing up every morning after I took it.I quit taking it a week before I went to the sub MD,but I'm not sure my stomach ever recovered.

I think today I'll take 1 and 1/2 and 1 and 1/2.....the dose was right,I felt good and had zero cravings....just messed up my stomach.

I think I'll go have a swig of pedialyte...it's nasty, but it always balances me out.

Re: Taking suboxone tips?

Hey Buddy,
I have dry mouth pretty bad been using altoids mints. My stomach has been bothering me too a little bit nauseas and not much appetite. I am still taking 8mg every 6 hrs and i am supposed to take a total of 4 today. I am still taking the clonidine about 2 a day. Do you think we are still withdrawing some.

Re: Taking suboxone tips?

I am CERTAIN we're still withdrawing..I'm on day 5...you're on day 4! Even if we'd gone CT we'd only now be getting OK,and probably would have slept about 6 hours in the 4 or 5 days.
We're really in a transition.I'm actually looking forward to things now,in particular ...stabilizing and maybe starting to exercise..it's been hard to get motivated being drowsy..played some catch..that's about it.
How you doin with the cravings? I haven't even thought about the stuff other than the discussions on the board.

Re: Taking suboxone tips?

Murph & Baseball,

Hi I'm short on time but will help you and answer any and all questions. Real quick though Murph, break your tab in half, it will disolve quicker. I usually take 8mg a day but take half around noon and the other half around 5pm. I have been on it for over 9 months with ZERO relapses. Started at 24mg and now at 8mgs a day. I'll be back after 4pm today if you have any other questions!

Michael
