Yes I have heard of a rectal prolapse where the bowel is weak and tends to fall out of the rectum at times. Unless you have it surgically taken care of you just reinsert the the portion of the bowel back in place.

I have seen a rectal prolapse whilst doing a mental health placement during my training. Unfortunately, surgery was not feasible for this patient, so we just got a warm damp towel and very gently and slowly pushed it back into place.

HI
I have had ulcerative colitis for a long time. I have experienced very mild rectal prolapse due to muscle spasms. I have had two clients who suffered rectal prolapse. One we just laid on his side and applied a light pressure and it went back in. The other has a long history. She has a prn for valium. She has not needed to use it since we stopped letting her sit on the toilet and just put depends on her. This would not be an optin for most people. This person is incontinent and was only toileted on schedule to try and help that.
