No answers to throat problem

The ENT had a good look with a mirror, and the larynix looks normal, the follow up barium seems to be okay with no odd swallowing or lump in throat seen on the xray.

However, I have this odd sensation of a lump in the throat and feel that my throat is constricted. At night when laying down, I feel I am suffocating, like the wind pipe is narrower, even when I breath through my nose.

The only thing the barium did show, was a slight reflex of berium backup to the esophogus.

Please can anyone help or identify or help

Thank you

Re: No answers to throat problem

Tony111- After months of having the same symptom, and searching this board almost everyday, I have found that it could be a variety of things. It could be GERD, anxiety, allergies, or an enlarged thyroid. I am still trying to get to the bottom of my problem, although my Dr. recently diagnosed me as having allergies, with post nasal drip possibly being the culprit. To see if you are in the same boat as me, you might try a decongestant. I found some cepacol lozenges made just for post nasal drip that seem to really help. I wouldn't worry too much since the ENT didn't see anything. Good luck!

Angry Re: No answers to throat problem

Tony1111-I never had any nasal blockage either, which is why I never thought it could have been allergies. The Dr. looked up into my nose and said it looked "angry" I never did have any sinus problems though, just an irritation down the left side of my throat/neck. She prescribed Flonase, which is'nt helping much. I found that over the counter meds, aspirin, and the cepacol lozenges are helping quite a bit. Do you have any post nasal drip at all?I didnt even know what is was until recently! I have always watched others all around me suffer with allergies, then BAM....I get them almost overnight. Go get you some decongestant, and the cepacol drops for PND and take a few aspirn, I bet you will feel better! Drink plenty of water-this seems to help me too. Best of luck!

Re: No answers to throat problem

I must have missed an earlier post by you, i will look later. I too spent yrs telling drs I had something stuck in my throat. I even had one dr tell me I was depressed. He secretly gave me antidepressants under the guise that they would help my sore throat as I was too naive to ask what it was. Not so any more!.
Anyway apparently I have a thyroid nodule that is growing bigger and I am getting food stuck in it. I have had one nodule on the other side biopsied and I have Hashimotos diagnosis now where my thyroid antiibodies are elevated. I guess finally a dr believed me and they did an Us but before that they did all the tests you had too and more. I have had more MRIs and bone scans than more people will ever have in their life time due to a bone tumor on my leg. Probably why I am determined not to let another tumor happen to me again.
Maybe ask for thyroid panel and Ultrasound, not unheard of thyroid problems in a man. My brother who is older has Graves and has undergone treatment for it twice.
Good luck.
