Post Should I Get Hemmorhoid Surgery?

Hi,

I've been suffering from an annoying hemmorhoid for the past 8 years now. The problem runs in my family and I also wasn't getting enough fiber in my diet 8 years ago.
I let it get too big before I finally, 2 or 3 years ago, started getting more fiber and drinking more water.

Well, now I don't strain at all. So I don't have a painful hemmorhoid. But it's an annoying one that pops out after every bowel movement. I then have to go an sit down for a while, before it will go back in. Then,
for the rest of the day, if I stand up for about 10 minutes, it slowly works it's way back out again. It doesn't hurt when it's out, but it feels very uncomfortable. Sort of like a clothes pin is pulling on my anus. Ugh!

I've had injections which eliminates the popping out for about a few weeks, but then it's back to the same old routine. Should I have surgery? Is it worth all the pain?
Will the problem return? I'm 38, and feel too young to have this problem which limits me from enjoying hiking, for example.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has undergone hemmorhoid surgery.

Thanks,
Steve

Have you been to see a gastroenterologist about it?

Hi Steve,
Sorry about your hemorrhoid but the only way to get rid of it is surgery. There is a way call banding that is suppose not to be as painful. I don't have any experience with that method.

I had the hemorroid surgery done many years ago and it was flat painful. Not only that your rectum that is a round sphicter muscle ----is not round anymore with some hemorrhoid surgeries.

The problem is if you are not careful ---they can come back even after surgery.

I have found taking a water soluble fiber supplement and alot of water helps alot in living with them.

God Bless----Harry

Cool

I just had the surgery 3 mos ago.. I would not recommend it to anyone..I had inners and outers so they butchered me up pretty good..
I thought I was going to have call 911 a couple of times during a BM..It was horribly painful.. I would try the bands if I were you
Especially if yours are external..Good luck..

I, too, had hemorrhoid surgery ...mmm...just about a month ago. And I'm still recuperating! I have faith that in the long run things will be much better....I'm hoping anyway. I do know that if I would have known what it was going to be like after the surgery, I probably would not have had it done. I have a pretty high tollerance of pain... so I thought! I bled a lot after each BM that I had for about week. That has subsided a lot. I still have some pain and soreness and will bleed a little when I have a BM now. Metamucil helps... but everyone is different. It's kind of trial and error for how much you need to taken and how often. The whole thing just pisses me off sometimes! hehehehehehe....I'm sure you all know what I mean. I'm tired of my butt being the thing I think about most every day! I have pretty much grossed out my husband and friends by talking about it.

I originally went to the doctor because of a thrombosed hemorrhoid that had to be taken care of. That was a piece of cake compared to the surgery. Then....I was going to go in and have 2 small internal hemorrohoids taken off. The Doctor told me there wouldn't be any pain because there are no nerve endings inside. Well.. the day I was supposed to have this done...he decided that he wanted to take off the three external hemorrohoids that I had because they happened to be a little swollen. Sooooo... needless to say...I wasn't really prepared for this! He did it in the office... shot me with the shots to numb me... which didn't help! Then used what I called the wood burning tool! Each time he was cutting...I could feel shooting burning pains. All he said was...don't move, don't move....and all I said was... okay...ow,ow,ow, I can still feel it...ow, ow, ow. What an ordeal.

I was supposed to go back 2 weeks later to have the internal hemorrhoids removed. I was just about hyperventilating when I went to his office. I was terrified to have anything more done. He examined me and said that where he removed the external hemorrhoids previously...was healing "nicely" and looked "beautiful". BEAUTIFUL? I doubt it! heheheheh...at any rate... he got ready to do the internal hemorrhoids...and asked me if I wanted to have this done today...and I said, no. Just like that, no. I just couldn't put myself through it. It probably wouldn't have been so bad....but I was just about having an anxiety attack.

Well... there you have it. At any rate...I'm still healing. Harry... and Bill Magic specifically.... how long did you take to heal? I don't mind the details. Really! I like to know your ordeals.

Take care....all of you!
