Throat Lump - result of Silent Reflux -

I have been diagnosed this week with silent reflux. I've been suffering with the lump in my throat, a touch of hoarseness, clearing of my throat, constriction, trouble swallowing mainly liquids, as in can feel them going down. Eating solids is when I notice it the least.

Dr has put me onto Omeprazole for a month. This may of course help or may not. I've been suffering stomach pains and terrible wind/gas, but I feel if that's what I have to put up with for 4 weeks to get rid of this reflux problem I'll do it. Been on it 2 days and not much difference so far. I take it 30 mins before breakfast, but read somewhere online to take it directly before eating. Anyone else discovered what works best?

One thing I have is a terrible dry mouth and throat. I wondered if anyone else suffers from this with it, and if so, have you found anything to relieve that problem.

Another thought was what actually causes it - are there any drugs that can cause it? I take simvastatin for my cholesterol.

Excuse my rambling - throwing thoughts in the pot really.

I have been curious about just how they diagnosed silent reflux... It seems a contradiction... Since you had symptoms that took you in... Did they do a scope and biopsies, or just diagnose from symptoms alone...

If the pain and gas have started since the drug, I suggest you talk to your doctor about trying something else.. What you describe can be side effects, or an allergic type reaction... You wouldn't want to be making your condition worse by taking a med that was actually hurting rather than helping...

As far as the Statins for Cholesterol... All I can say is that I can't take them... They cause major body pains for me... Apparently from what I have learned recently they may exacerbate fibromyalgia which I have been trying to ignore... Now I avoid all the statins, as a result of ending up in pain from each of the ones I tried...

When you got your prescriptions, you should have gotten an insert. I would read those closely to see if any of them might be causing similar symptoms to what you are experiencing...

Then of course there is the possibility of Eosinophilic Disease in the Esophagus... Similar symptoms, and they can come on at any age...

Hope you get this figured out and feel better really soon...
