I'm New Here

I am 23 years old with advanced cardiovascular syncope. I have had hypertention and fainting spells since age 6 and have now learned that I am in the early stages of cardiac desease. I am losing circulation in my right arm and leg, along with short term memory loss and a list of other generic symptoms that would take all day to type out.

My family is cursed with cardiac desease and I am curious if this is the cause for it, I am the youngest to have been diagnosed, but I have two brothers both over age 40 who have CD but have never fainted in their life.

3 Months ago I couldn't stand or sit more then 10 minutes without fainting, and now I am losing circulation in my legs after taking Topral XL and Zestril for the faining.

Durring my childhood I repeatedly complained to doctors about migranes, fainting, concentration problems, nausea, fatique, depression, nose bleeds, and more... After hearing " there is nothing wrong with you" for almost 20 years I finially hear that I have an incurable desease that could have been treated from the start

Can we say Quack?

Anyway enough rambaling, just needed to get it all off my chest.

Hi John.

I've been fighting advanced heart disease for decades, including high blood pressure, CHF, heart rhythm problems, afib and also asthma.

As bad and complex as this sounds, I am doing much better than the doctors expected, and have a good quality of life. My blood pressure is the best it has ever been, but if I make one mistake and come into contact with the wrong thing, my blood pressure will soar for a few days until it calms down again.

I am wondering if you've had similar experiences with your heart disease? Do you know of certain foods or drinks that make your condition worse?

Regards, and best of luck and health to you.

Hi John, welcome . Sorry to hear about your heart problems. You are quite young to have troubles that serious - but it happens and you aren't alone. It sounds like genetics might play a big part in your family with the history of heart-related problems.

As for the doctors... too bad we didn't know each other, we'd probably both have been better off. My doctors thought I was *supposed* to have something to complain about, and couldn't understand when I didn't - or when I lived well beyond age twelve (I'm now 24) which they didn't think was possible. I'm glad they were wrong, in my case .

But can we say quacks? Yup, yours and mine both. To the duck pond with them!

Re: I'm New Here

Hello John & Kitten1980, Have you been given a label (diagnosis) by a cardiologist ?
You both have symptoms that may involve cardiac function, but are not necessarily caused by heart disease. I have a genetically based heart disease, which did not become apparent until I was over 50 years of age, so sometimes it is a bit tricky to precisely diagnose certain conditions. Hope to hear more from you both soon.Good Luck, Excelsoir

Re: I'm New Here

I was diagnosed with syncope caused from abnormal heart rythms, my heart rate would go from 66 to 215 and down to 43 in a matter of seconds... after we got the fainting under control we did some more testing and I was told I was in the early stages of " cardiovascular desease" which one I can't you thats what the doc told me. I am asumming it is caused from damage to my heart from the 20 years of hypertensive syncope. I did however find out that most people with my condition become diabetic within the first year, but I have yet to find out if I am or not. Appearantly its a condition where the circulation to muscles and organs depreciate over time , something to do with wear and tear on the viens. I do know that its a condition most 60+ have but very few my age.... starts pouting ...... anyway hope to squeeze more info from my cardi next time i see him.

P.S. anyone else have a reveal implant ? its a computer chip they stick in your chest to drive you nuts - I mean to record anirythims (sp?) mine itchis more then poison ivy
