Bleeding From Navel (Belly-Button)

When I clean my navel, I use a Q-tip and I do it very gently. I've pulled fresh blood out on the tip of the Q-tip numerous times. This has gone on for about the last 2 to 3 years. The VA "doctors" ignore me when I ask about it. I think that it's odd. I've already been diagnosed with several ailments other Gulf Vets have been diagnosed with and I also have had "Gulf Syndrome" listed in my records a few times in the last 10 years. Anyone else out there (especially Gulf Vets) ever pull blood from or bleed from the navel?

Re: Bleeding From Navel (Belly-Button)

No one else out there has ever bled from their belly-button?

Someone has got to know what causes it. I'm not real concerned about it, but am very curious as to why this has started happening.

Possibly someone in the medical field may know why it happens?

Re: Bleeding From Navel

Might want to do some research on Umbilical hernias... its a normal hernia but happens in the abdominal wall ion the region around the navel. Go to the doc if you think it might be that as they can enlarge and then you can have complications.

good luck!

Michelle0925....

Thanks. I'll look into this Umbillical Hernia possibility. Do you know what causes them and what kind of complications can arise if left untreated?
