Update

Finally called the surgeon and went to talk to him about the open nissen scheduled next Tuesday. Well with all depending on how much scar tissue there is, (come on what are the chances there will be no scar tissue after being cut open 3 times in the last year alone?) he said I should be in the hospital for 1-2 days, can't do any heavy lifting for 6 weeks, and should only need 2 weeks off from work. I don't know whether that is good news or bad. I mean I don't want to be sent home because that is all the time he thinks I should need.

Re: Update another horror story

Well I hate to report another nissen horror story but that is what I got. I went in on the 7th, by the 9th I was on life support and taken by ambulance to a bigger hospital. Spent 3 weeks in a coma on life support and was just released on Thursday the 30th. Seems first my surgeon cut into the artery in the spleen and had to remove that. Then he nicked my pancreas, and didn't see it and sewed me back up. None of the doctors thought I was going to make it, but I pulled through.

Smile Re: Update

Wow - what a horror story! I hope you are feeling better now. Is there any malpractice recourse you could consider here? That is just awful what you went through. Has your surgeon had much experience doing fundos?

Good luck to you on your recovery and keep us posted on your progress. Thank the Lord you were able to pull through!
