Christianmom....

I read your story about the stomach issues. I have a friend with similar Crohns disease and wanted to give you some good news. Remicad (sp?) is amazing! He takes it and he is a new man afterwards. He sings the praises of the stuff like it was gold. I know different people respond to different drugs in different ways, but I want you to know that people have had wonderful "qualities of life" while taking this drug.

God Bless

Re: Christianmom....

I am not sure. That is why I did not put it under your thread. I did not want to get your hopes up. However I am more than happy to take a look around and do some internet research for you. As a computer techie, I am awfully good at research on the net. I will see what I can find and post the results under your thread. I really hope I find out that it is, cause it is a wonderful drug. It is also not addictive and the best part is you only take it every 3 months, or month or something like that. Lemme check right now, results within 30 minutes.

Re: Christianmom....

Hmmm, ther eis not much difinate about colitis, however the two seem to go together on a lot of treatments. Crohns and Colitis that is. Here is a good website if you have not seen it.

http://www.ibd.patientcommunity.com/

What I found was that Remicade seems to be used for the treatment of ulcerative colitis but there are not as many posted results as for Crohns. My advise is ask your doc!! He should know and if he does not maybe someone can be asked on that website. If you can take it, I would try.

BTW, if you dont have insurance you better be willing to sell a kidney for it. It cost thousands of dollars a dose....no generic. It is administed via a IV.

Re: Christianmom....

I am on the other spectrum. I have had Crohn's for almost 20 years. I'm only 34. I have had 5 treatments of Remicade. After my first 3 doses I was so sick that I HAD to have a bowel resection. After the surgery they tried it again and it did not work at all. I only know that they use Remicade for Crohn's and Rheumatoid (sp) Arthritis.

I also know that this drug does wonders for a lot of people but unfortunately I was not one of them.

This is not a opiate drug and you can not become addicted to it. You would never have the chance to get addicted as it is only given via IV at the hospital or clinic by hospital staff.
