pain lower left abdomen etc...question

For the past month or so I have had excessive gas, bloating, frequent BM's with floating stools. I went to the DR last week who thinks it may be either celiac sprue or lactose intolerance. Since last Saturday I have been having more pain in the lower left side of my abdomen. It seems at its worst at night though it never goes away completely. I have been dairy free for almost a week with no change. The doctor wants me to do that for two weeks. Shoudl I call back because of this pain or give the no dairy thing more time? Or does it sund more like sprue? Thanks for any advice!
