No Appetite After Emergency Colectomy

My Husband Had An Emergency Partial Colectomy After A Severe Gi Bleed From Diverticulitis. He Almost Bleed To Death And Is A Diabetic. He Had A Wound Infection After The Surgery And Is Now Recuperating At Home. He Is Very Depressed, Has No Appetite And Even Has A Hard Time Drinking Fluids. He Is Now 3 And 1/2 Weeks Post-op And Has Lost About 25lbs. The Wound Still Has Puralant Drainage I Am Told This Will Soon Stop! The Doctor States That His Appetite Will Come Back But It Will Be A while, Do Not Push Him. he Barely Eats And What He Does Eat Is Equivalent To 1/2 A Kiddie Meal With A 2 Glasses Of Liquid For The Entire Day. I Am SO Worried About Him How Can He Heal. Please Help If You Have Had A Similar Experience Any Suggestions Will Be Appreciated!

Re: No Appetite After Emergency Colectomy

I had a total collectomy and after surgery it was hard to eat. I used ensure to try to get what I needed because it was difficult to eat alot. Talk to your doctor again to see if he can suggest other items that would help. I hope this helps and I also ate soft things like ice cream jello pudding things that are easier to digest. I hope your husband does well Take care geifer
