Lipitor and Lescol

I have just told the doctor that I will not take Lipitor any longer. I am having severe leg problems. He has now given me Lescol. Is there any difference in the type of medication.

Re: Lipitor and Lescol

I do not know but would like to let you know about something new. My doctor wants me to try "Policosanol" 10 mg., purchase at health store. From my research it appears to be safe. Policosanol is made from "sugar cane wax". Use only the Policosanol without other ingredients. Policosanol is also made from beeswax but supposedly does not work as well as the sugar cane wax.

Only time will tell whether Policosanol works or not. Thought you might like to know about a non-statin way to possibly lower cholesterol.

My husband took Zocor for a year and ended up with muscle pain and a twisted knee needing surgery. He is now taking Zetia. Only time will tell whether Zetia creates a problem or not.

Eating a diet with no more than 7 grams saturated fat per day will help lower the lipids. Exercise also is needed to lower. Starches and sweets are guilty of raising triglycrides. Try eating more non-starch veggies and less meat.
