Fenugreek and Flax for your Heart?

I just discovered this board last night. I've been on the High/Low Blood Pressure board because I'm searching for answers to decrease my blood pressure. The thread/posts on flax seed really got my attention and I'm exploring that as an option. Also, for any of you who may be experiencing hypertension, you may want to read my thread titled "Plant Based Beta Blockers?", which talks about using fenugreek (functions as a diuretic) with a beta blocker.

Also, I've been looking into a plant called "Achillea wilhelmsii", a variety of Yarrow, for similar bp lowering effects. There was a double blind study done in Iran about it. So far, the Shiraz University (published the study) hasn't responded to my e-mail. I wonder why? . . . Just think, if we lived in a world where people cooperated instead of putting up all of these artificial political/religious/ego-thinking barriers, what a different world it would be.

There are answers out there, we just have to be persistent in finding them.

I have heard of the flax seed oil. Be sure it is fresh. I understand that it can spoil

Re: Fenugreek and Flax for your Heart?

That's what I read too on this board. I have been taking flax oil pills and am now starting back into using ground flax seeds. I added a 1/3 cup to oatmeal this morning (in lieu of fenugreek seeds, which I forgot to soak from the night before) and took 1/4 pill of atenolol (12.5 mg, my usual dosage). I'm not 100% sure this was the reason, but I took my bp within an hour of eating and it was 118/78--a very good reading for me. My goal is to eliminate atenolol. I am a healthy person and healthy people don't take drugs!
