Arrow Metallic taste

Why do I have a metallic taste in my mouth? It tastes like I have been sucking on a penny. I have ate, drank, and brushed my teeth. It will not go away. I do not have allergies nor do I have a cold. Why else would this taste be there?

Re: Metallic taste

People working with brass, in foundries or those welding with steel get a metallic taste. Some people with dentures, dental appliances, and amalgam fillings have a metallic taste. Some drugs, such as antibiotic metronidazole will cause a metallic taste.

People taking chemo sometimes have a problem with metallic taste.

I do know some liquid supplement drinks have a metallic taste too me, Ensure.

Re: Metallic taste

I do not do any of those things. I don't know what it could be.

Re: Metallic taste

I would see your doc as this could indicate many different conditions.I know that in certain kidney conditions, one of the symptoms is the metallic taste in the mouth.i think your doc would be the best judge of what might be causing this.Good luck and keep me posted.Marcia

Re: Metallic taste

There can be several reasons for having a metalic taste in the mouth. Sometimes when you have lots of fillings in your teeth it can produce that taste. You may also need to do what people call detox your body. You may have too many metal toxins in your body. Don't go to a regular Dr. for this problem. They don't have a clue. Go to a naturepath.......or you can go to a health food store or book store and read up on detoxing. Lots of information out there. You can also look on the net.

I get the metalic taste when I juice fast because I'm getting rid of the toxins in my blood. After a few days of juicing its gone.
