Red face I need info quick! Please help

Hi There,

I was given botox injections and the doctor told me that if I wait for one week I could go back to breastfeeding. The week has gone by and I am about to begin breasfeeding again and am very freaked out and worried Has anyone else had botox and breasfed and if so what were your results? Was the baby Ok?
Sincerely,
Trickdog

well, the only thing that i can suggest is to talk to your pediatrician. if you have not been pumping and dumping to rid the possibly contaminated breast milk, i do not see what good waiting a week would do. i also think it is very hard on a baby to jump back and fourth from breast milk to formula, but you could have had b/m saved up i guess. good luck.

I am assuming you mean the doctor who gave you the botox injections?

Speak to your midwife instead, and if possible, speak to multiple doctors to get multiple opinions on what to do.

No matter what you do, you need to start pumping that milk out or you will lose it. Pump the contaminated milk and find out how long it takes for the botox to leave your system. Ask the pediatrician. In the meantime, unless you have some previously pumped milk, I suppose you'll have to feed formula. But, you need to keep the breast milk production up by pumping or you can lose the milk fast. Getting it back is almost impossible. Good luck!!!!
