Question Anyone know how long it takes for Neurontin to take affect?

I have been diagnosed with a non-cancerous microscopic tumor in my pituitary gland, that has been causing constant (sometimes migraine) headaches for the past 5 1/2 years.

My doctor has started me on Neurontin to get rid of the headaches, then, at my next appointment, he will start me on medication to reduce the size of my tumor, and to reduce the pressure that it is putting on my optic nerve.

Anyway, does anyone know how long it takes for this medication to take affect? I have been taking 1200mg per day for the past week.

Unhappy

The Neurontin has not helped at all!

I just had an appointment with my endocrinologist this morning (I am also a diabetic), and he said that this type of tumor cannot cause headaches, unless it his the size of the pituitary gland.

I don't agree with him, but was wondering if anyone else had heard this.

There are also other drugs for migraines through prescription such as Midrin or Imitrex. Be careful with the latter, if you have certain conditions you should not take this. There are also control substances for headaches but I'd stay away from them as they are addicting.

I have two different forms of tumors in my head.
I also am on Neurotin with darvoset.

You need to call your Doctor.
Tell him this is not working.
So far I have been to three doctors.

Monday I will find out if I have to have surgury to remove my tumors.
Please GET ANOTHER OPION.
