What's the connection of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux and GERD?

Has anyone ever suffered from GERD symptoms and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux symptoms at the same time. I have a wicked cough, hoarseness, sensation of lump in the throat, sore throat, and constantly clearing my throat. Nexium does not do anything for that.
Any clues???

Re: What's the connection of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux and GERD?

It's a big connection, I have constant hoarseness brought on by GERD, that acid can cause inflamation and scarring in the larynx, lungs bronchial tubes, anywhere close by because the vagus nerve is irritated. My hoarseness comes and goes depending on the reflux, I always sound like I have a cold or bronchitis. Nexium isn't working for me either after 3 weeks, and none of the others have either, I still have to try otc prilosec for good measure tho the priscription prilosec didn't do much.
