removing tonsils...

for about a week now i've had a really sore throat. feels like a knife is stuck in it and scrapes all along it. the sides of my neck feel really swollen, like golf balls.. i'm losing my voice and can't really swallow too well. i even coughed upa bit of blood after sneezing, i think because it tore the inside of my throat.. now when i cough i can taste blood as well. i went to the clinic today and i was given amoxicillin, told that there was no point to take a throat swab and never found out what it was i have :\ i think she meant to tell me it was strep throat? i have a history of this. and just throat infections in general. i even get them in the summer time... (last summer was real bad)
i'm not sure if removing my tonsils would help? because i move alot, i never see the same doctor for my throat problems... so it's always a new one. i meant to mention it today although iforgot. my memory tends to wander off when it's needed.
any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks

Re: removing tonsils...

There's a huge section called adult tonsilectomy in healthboards. It got so big they had to start another, part 2 for discussion. Had mine out 4 years ago at the age of 34.

Re: removing tonsils...

The orginal thread that was started talked about people getting their tonsils removed because of chronic tonsillitis, tonsil stones, sinus problems, sleep apnea -- right now the conversation has sort of turned to discussion on people recovering from the surgery. Hopefully you'll get some answers.
