Question Add/adhd Treatment

I know there is a difference between add & adhd. What I want to know which of these meds are used for which?

concerta- add or adhd
aderrall- add or adhd
strattera- add or adhd

Basically what I am trying to find out is what is commonaly used to treat inattentive add?

Thanks.

Re: Add/adhd Treatment

My son has never used Concerta but with ADD he has used Adderal and Stratera. I was told by the doc that the "H" (hyperactive) people get Ritalin type stuff. I don't know which newer drugs are being used now as he is not hyperactive. When he used Ritalin for a week or two he became hyperactive.

I take Adderall for ADHD (extreme hyperactivity). Adderall and Dexedrine should be the ONLY meds precribed for the hyperactive, according to my doc. He said that Adderall & Dexedrine both specifically target the "hyper" areas of the brain, making the patient feel calmer/less fidgety. Adderall works beautifully for me.

Ritalin or Concerta work best for ADD (w/o hyperactivity).

Re: Add/adhd Treatment

If you take a look at a pamphlet from Shire (the drug company that makes Adderall) it says *specifically* it is used for the treatment of ADD *with hyperactivity*

Re: Add/adhd Treatment

It's been my experience that all of the ADD medications - stimulants and Strattera - are prescribed for either ADD or ADHD.
