Re: oh my....... face down!!

My son did this too. The pediatrician told me at this age the SIDS rate (which is rare anyway, even among stomach sleeping newborns) goes WAY down. That if my son was strong enough to roll over, he was big and strong enough to move his head if he wasn't getting enough air. Scary I know. I still checked on him quite often cause I was paranoid!

Just try not to worry too much.

Re: oh my....... face down!!

Someone gave me a backrest to prevent DS from rolling over. Two little cloth tubes with a piece of fabric in between that we layed him on about hip level. They've got them at any of the big discount stores, sears... Not that spendy.

Re: oh my....... face down!!

There's nothing you can do once they have the strength to turn over themselves. While they're younger, the back ppositioner works, but not at months. All you can do is just make sure that you don't use a blanket on a baby under 1 year of age. Doesn't matter how small the blanket is. JUst put baby in a nice sleeper.

Re: oh my....... face down!!

I know its scary, but your baby will be fine. The first poster is right about the frequency of SIDS. As a matter of fact, a tummy sleeping newborn has not even near a 1% chance of SIDS! If your baby is rolling he is strong enough to move his head to breathe properly. I know its hard not to worry, but please relax and know that he will be fine.
