HELP!! I need relief for intense itching

5 days ago I started itching all over my body. Not sure if it was a drug allergy (Doxycycline) or an allergic reaction to wearing latex gloves a work. First, I tried to medicate myself with Benadryl Cream and capsules. NO relief. Ended up visiting the ER for a shot of Benadryl and a prescription of Prednisone to be taken for 1 week. The prednisone helps temporarily but in a few hrs. the itching comes back. How long does it take for prednisone to work completely? What creams, etc. can I try in the meantime?
ANY suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.

Cortizone is really the best for itching IMO, You can get it at any drug store.

Halls you are right- but OTC Cortisone isn't strong enough for many people. You may want to try something like Cutivate which is considerably a higher concentration & will really help control the itching. Ask your doctor for a prescription for a steroid cream. Cutivate or Psorcon if things are really bad. Also Elidel may help you if the rash isn't too severe & it is not a steroid. Actually I woudln't even bother with a PCP I would go straight to a Dermatologist.
