Red face breast lump that cannot be seen on Ultra or Mamm HELP!!!

I am so confused !! There is an obvious lump on my right breast. Neither the Ultrasound nor Mammorgram could see anything. Does this mean that it is nothing?? I havent seen a doctor since I went to the emergency room and he sent me for these tests. So I am sitting here in limbo not knowing what to think.

Have a great evening and thanks !
Melissa

Melissa...I am going throught the very same thing. My doctors found a lump on my right breast and both the ***** and u/s did not detect it...now in my case my doctor wants to wait until after my next period and see if they can still feel it and if they can, they will send me to a surgeon to have it removed to make sure it is not cancer. From what I am reading some people have had cancerous lumps that was not detected on ***** or u/s ...so I guess it is better to be safe than sorry. Let me know what happens and I will do the same...Daniele

Hi Daniele,
Thanks for the reply, just hearing from someone has made me feel better. I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem also. For me the "not knowing" is the worst. I am waiting for a call from the Surgeons Nurse as I type. I have yet to be seen !! From what she has told me over the phone is, they will most likely remove the lump and test it at that time. Normally they would go in with the needle and do the byopsy, however the Doctor uses U/S to assist in seeing where to put the needle. So in our cases that isnt possible. I had a complete hystorectomy (sp?) when I was 25, so there is not that chance for me. I am 35 now and it has been pleasant not having a period up until now !! LOL wish I had those darn cramps over this lump thats forsure !!
I hope this note finds you happy and healthy. I will keep you updated as far as what I am being told.
Talk to you soon,
Melissa

Hi Melissa, I was glad to hear from you. I have a drs appt tomorrow to see if he can still feel this lump, needless to say I am very nervous. I really dread the thought of having surgery to remove it, but I guess it would be for the best if thats what they have to do. I will keep you updated on what I find out...feel free to email me at tdblw1@alltel.net Daniele

HI Melissa...I was glad to hear from you. I have my drs appt today and needless to say I am very nervous. If he can still feel the lump he is going to send me to a surgeon to get it removed. I guess it is better to do it that way, but I am not looking forward to surgery. I will let you know what I find out and I hope you will do the same. You can email me if you want to at tdblw1@alltel.net Daniele
