Talking Thanks FD

FD:
Thank-you for correcting my misinformation. I was going by what my GP had told me and needless to say it left me greatly upset. It just reinforces the fact that not even doctors are well informed.
Again, thank-you for the web sites and correcting my misinformation.

You are so welcome!

Don't discount what your GP says, but don't think it's the word of God either. I am a huge propponent of finding all the info you can about something, no matter what your doctors say. HPV is one of those things that is just really misunderstood, or very little understood at the very least, and so every doctor could possibly give you different information. I had three gynecologists tell me different things about how I got it/how I could spread it/how it would affect me. It was endlessly frustrating. So I guess my point is, just find out all you can! It's not nearly as scary once you research it for yourself. And keep asking questions. I had to pointedly ask my gyn three times how it was transmitted and whether or not my husband needed to be/could be tested for it as well (which he can, even though the misconception is that men can't be tested without visible symptoms or warts). Ask ask ask, over and over again if you have to.

Good luck!
