Post Abnormal cells

Hi all,

I have had abnormal bleeding over the past few months so my GP sent me to an ob/gyn. At the hospital she did a test on my cervix with vinegar and it showed quite a large area of abnormal cells. She did a biopsy anf it will be THREE weeks before I get the results. Has anyone had a similiar experience where it turned out to be nothing?

My sister-in-law has abnormal cells come back on a pap test. They said it was pre-cancer cells. She had her cervix removed and is fine now.

I wouldn't worry too much. I would, however, push the doctors for faster results. Only because I am sure the waiting is killing you.

Whenever I am waiting for results like that, I always express my concern to the doctor/nurse and tell them that I CANNOT wait long for the results. They usually will get me in sooner.

Good Luck.

I have had this experience twice, unfortunately...I had abnormal cells from a pap & I had a coloposcopy done to take a look. The Dr. decided to do a biopsy to test the abnormal cells. I had to wait quite awhile to get my results too. Don't panic though, it will just stress you out & make everything worse. After my biopsy, I had more of the affected area removed off of my cervix in what was called a LEEP procedure(Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure). No cancer, still have most of my cervix, can still have kids, carefully! You will be fine. Keep your chin up.
