lump in throat?

This one thing is one thing that scares me...in the back of my throat and further down my throat, it constantly feels like there is something in there, but there isn't. The doctors have felt my neck for lumps and have looked down my throat for anything suspicious and haven't found anything, but it does feel like there's a lump in my throat and it has me worried. I have heard it could be acid reflux (which I don't think I have) or stress (which I definitely do have). What does this sound like to everyone? I have a fear that this could be a sign of throat cancer or something along those lines, but I feel that doctors would have noticed swelling when feeling my neck for lumps or what looking at my throat. I have been to the doctors several times for this, should I go back again or have faith in their diagnosis and relieve some of the stress that could be causing this?

Hi profpo31. It could be a thyroid problem even if the doctor's cannot feel a nodule. I have a thyroid problem and one symptom I had prior to treatment was the feeling of something stuck in my throat. Do you have any other symptoms?

I highly recommend that you have a thyroid panel done. It is a simple blood test. Specifically ask that in addition to the regular tests that they test the Free T3, Free T4 (not just the T3, T4) and thyroid antibodies. These are not usually run but are necessary for a complete view of your thyroid. Realize that "normal" results are not normal for everyone. Even if your results are in the normal range you may benefit from treatment.

Get copies of your test results. I suggest posting this question and your results when you get them on the thyroid board at this site. The people there are very helpful and have good advice.

I have this and even if the drs feel for this they can't find a nodule. I had to have a thyroid ultrasound before they found my nodules. The biopsy found they were benign the one that causes the lump and swallowing problem is the one that bothers me the most. I do have reflux which I take Prevacid for.I have Hashimotos with the high antibodies so my other thyroid levels are normal believe it or not!.

I recently had both a colonoscopy and an endoscopy done for what i believed were digestive problems. If there were signs of the beginnings of throat cancer or anything bad like that, would the doctor have seen this during the endoscopy?
