Home remedies, advice, and sympathy please!

I'm 42 and having a terrible round with acne for the last 6 weeks. Been using salicylic, glycolic acid, benzoyl, and tea tree oil. Also take ortho-tricyclen. As soon as I get one cleared up (which takes about 3 weeks) another crops up.

In my early 30's I got medical help and was put on antibiotics and tretinoin, which helped a lot. I quit this several years ago due to expense and thinking I didn't need it anymore. I have lousy insurance now, can't afford it, and it would take months to get into a dermatologist anyway--so don't want to go that route.

I even lied and called in sick last month for 2 days due to the huge boil (!) on my chin. I wanted to take more time off but felt silly and couldn't afford to. I hate to look in the mirror anymore and dread putting on makeup--can I cover it or not--usually not!

I just ordered something called D'arcy Drying Lotion because nothing else is working. The Neutrogena acne patches (salicylic) were doing an ok job, but not anymore.

I'm at my wits end. Is there anything home remedy or OTC that works great for you? Please please I will try anything. This is only on my chin and it is cystic acne that hurts like a MF.

Home remedy? Heh, acne is just not one of them things your gonna cure out of the cabinet unfortunetly. Theres a few things that people will recomend but no absolute cure im affraid, if there is let me know .

im 32 just got my acne under control,im lucky to get a few now,i use safegaurd antibacterial soap,somehow that controls it,and bare escentals mineral make up clears and covers and its not cakey,read my post recently on that,and as for your cystic one the only thing that really works is cortizone injected in it,i had 6 before and got huge scars from waiting them out and sqeezing the crap out of them,i wish i would of gotten them medicaly removed,good luck and sorry to hear,ive been there,the not wanting to leave the house.

try tamanu oil I've been using it since mid nov and it cut my oil, reduced scars and discoloration and oh yeah the acne too good luck aside form diet this oil has been a miracle cure for me and the only other thing thats worked

In your area they might a commity clinic that can help you with the cost of the medicine. I will be taking accutane for the boils on my body. They can get to the size of an orange. THey do hurt. Don't give up though.
