Over 40 with 10 pounds to lose...

Hi
I'm 47 and, at 5'-6", I weigh 153. I've weighed 153 for the last couple of years and though I'm not quite "overweight," I'd feel more comfortable if I could lose about 10 pounds. I weighed 143 for most of my adult life. Then, I hit 40 and the scale started creeping up. I'm far more disciplined about exercise and nutrition than I was in my 20's, and yet, I can't lose an ounce! And hunger is so much more uncomfortable in midlife than when you're young. Is anyone else struggling with a similar situation? Or do you have any advice?

Re: Over 40 with 10 pounds to lose...

According to your age, height and weight (and without knowing your exact activity level) to maintain the weight you're at now you need to eat 2080 calories a day. Which isn't hard to do, so you're probably eating more than your body needs to function and more than you're burning.

If you subtract 500 calories from that 2080 and eat no more than that amount every day, you'll start losing weight.
