Question...

Alright, I was wondering if (for example) 1200 calories in fat is different from 1200 calories, in say, protein? Other than the obvious nutritional differences, does it matter where your calories are coming from concerning weight loss?

Re: Question...

1200 calories from fat would only be 133.33 grams of food.

1200 calories from protein would be 300 grams of food.

I'd go for the greater quantity!

Re: Question...

I think that's the biggest problem with weight loss, that you can't determine if your body is burning off fat or muscle when you diet. It's my understanding that for most people who lose weight, it's about half fat and half muscle that they lose. A pound of fat is much larger than a pound of muscle but I believe they're both worth about 3500 calories of energy.
