This is working for me

I am 6ft male with a medium frame. For the longest time I have been trying to get back into waist size 34 pants. My start weight was 202 and my goal is 185. After 4-5 weeks of trying, I reached it today.

I have limited my caloric intake to about 1200 calories/day. I have cut out a lot of the snacks and exercise 5 days a week.

But, the most important thing I have done is stop eating before I go to sleep at night. Prior to losing weight, I would eat a snack (ice cream, cake etc) before I went to bed. I now do not eat past 7pm. I do not know why this has made such a difference, but it has. I am really proud of myself. I feel like a different person: more energy, confidence, and motivation.

I hope this helps someone.

Re: This is working for me

I think it depends when you go to bed. Monkey arms if you go to bed at 1 and eat your last snack at 10 PM that's OK. I would say make the cut off 2-3 hrs before you go to sleep. Sometimes, I have no choice but to eat an 8:00 dinner cause of my kids, but I don't worry about it because I go to bed 11:30. Also sometimes I have no choice but to weight train at night and therefore have to eat something after that to prevent the muscle from being catabolized. So you really have to look at the whole picture.

Re: This is working for me

The first few days were the worst. But at this point it has become part of my daily routine and I really do not think much about it.
Good luck

Re: This is working for me

thanks for this post. my weight loss had been slowing down and i tried not eating last night before bed and BAM, the weight started moving.

Im on a 1400 cal diet, and would usually consume 200 or so cals about 2 hours before bed. Now i cut myself off about 4 hours before bed.

I do find your stomach starts to growl. But what I do is ill have a tablespoon of raspberry jam (35 cals) and that seems to give the body what it wants. Not sure if the body is looking for sugar or what, but that little bit of jam seems to work (its sweet, so its almost like eating candy - like a reward at the end of the day.)

Anyway, I'm going to keep this up and see how the next few weeks go. I've lost 30 pounds so far (just another 15-25 to go), so i'm slowing building in more and more techniques to avoid dealing with the dreaded weight loss plateaus.

Thanks for the post.
