Is Dad near death?

Hello. I am new to this board so I'm not exactly sure what to do. I have been reading for awhile but haven't found what I'm looking for. My Dad was diagnosed in December with brain cancer. Specifically Metastic Melonoma of the Brain. He had a few moles removed 3 years ago and has gone for follow ups every 6 mos. He's been fine everytime. In Dec. we took him to hospital for stroke like symptoms. They did a CT Scan and found multiple tumors. He did radiation but it was a comfort measure. He is now on home hospice care. He has not eaten anything for over 4 weeks now. How long can he last like this? Can anyone tell me what to expect next? I have been trying to go see him at least every other day because I'm afraid each time will be the last but he seems to be doing better now than he was even 2 weeks ago. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Is Dad near death?

I'm so sorry. Only your doctors can really give you an answer really. It depends on symptoms, how much the tumors have progressed and if the radiation is shrinking them or not.
