Suboxone and sleeping?

Hello Group,
I am new here. I posted for the first time a few days ago under the thread suboxone experiences. Briefly, I was/am addicted to hydrocodone. My habit had grown to 20+ 10/325 norcos a day. I knew i had a serious problem and began reading the posts in this group. I really can't thank you all for being here, it helps tremendously to know that I am not alone and that there are people out there in the same boat as me. Anyway, last Saturday I went to a suboxone cilinic type place. After disolving 8mg of sub I felt fine in about 20mins and have felt fine ever since.........except when it comes to sleep. I go to bed normal time every night, I don't drift off to sleep like I used to. Instead I kind of lay there in a half sleep kind of sleep, sort of like I'm in a trance, if I do doze off it seems that I awaken abrubtly.... my wife says I mumble something like whats going on, is everybody ok? things like that, kind of like a mini panic attack. when I wake-up (?) in the AM I feel confused and disoriented which passes, I feel a little tired during the day but I'm OK. I just wish I could get 4 hours of straight sleep. I have taken sominex no help anybody have any idea how long this will last? Any ideas? Teas, potions? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all of you,
mrgrateful

Re: Suboxone and sleeping?

About 2 weeks, you will get used to about every aspect of the med. When I first took it I slept but I woke up every hour to smoke like I did on morphine or methadone when I was using. I am on 20mg a day and the first week I took it, it made me jerk in bed, I thought I was gonna have a seizure or something but I eventually got used to everything. Now the only side effects I see is that I chain smoke and eat more, mostly sweets and cereals. Also, I have gained 5 lbs the month I have been on it. The only thing I would advise is to take your evening dose around 5pm. They had me on a dose at 8am and a dose at 8pm and when I started taking the evening dose early I slept better.
Good Luck

Re: Suboxone and sleeping?

What time are you taking it? It use to do the same thing to me, but just take it a lot earlier than your bedtime. I had to switch from evening to morning dose to get better sleep.

Re: Suboxone and sleeping?

Was only on for 10 days and didn't have any sleep problems. My doctor also prescribed halcion to sleep. (I didn't use it). I did notice the eating thing though, I think the drug stimulates appetite. After I stopped the sub *not my choice, my doc wanted me off quickly the appetite was gone.

anyways, good luck with detox.
