Is it okay to drink on these tablets?

hi im taking mefenamic acid tablets 500mg 3 times a day for heavy periods so i only take them for 3 days each month. I was just wondering if it is ok to drink alcohol whilst im taking these. It doesnt mention anything about it in the leaflet and i wanted to check first.

It's interesting that the drug company's leaflets and monographs don't mention alcohol but I keep reading in other medical literature that it's best to avoid alcohol while taking this drug, which as you probably know is an NSAID. (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory).


Here's a list of drugs that can increase, decrease or alter the effect of mefenamic acid tabs:

ACE inhibitors (drugs for high blood pressure)
Alcohol
Aspirin
Blood-thinning medications such as Coumadin
Diuretics such as Lasix and HydroDIURIL
Fluconazole (DiFlucan)
Lithium (Lithonate)
Methotrexate (Rheumatrex)
Steroids such as prednisone and hydrocortisone
Trimethoprim (Proloprim, Bactrim, Septra)

So, my guess is that it's best to not drink for those few days you are taking it per month.
