Question My husband is stage four...but they got the mets areas....what stage is he now?

Just curious - my husband found out Friday...the cancer in his brain IS GONE...YEAH! Radiation WORKED.

The cancer in his heart sac is GONE NOW TOO...YEAH AGAIN.

Now the lung is still minimal...so, he gets more rounds of chemo.

WOW we had a joyous day Friday and continue to bask in the GOOD NEWS.

Now, he is stage four...BUT - since it is ONLY in the lung now...do we assume he is no longer stage four? If so...what stage is he?

TY,

Mary

I think stage four just means it has spread from the original site, so it probably keeps this label. I was so happy to hear your good news. My dad had rectal, spread to spine/bone, and now is in his abdomine (2 lymph nodes) and they are watching his lungs. He is on Saltz Regime chemo and we are hopeful, but after one treatment, he has been hospitalized today for dehydration. I was glad to hear a 'happy' story. Good luck. ME (Worried Daughter)

Hi,

I am sorry about your Dad being hospitalized. You know, I wonder if chemo causes that because my husband has had to be hydrated three times already this month. Just tonight I checked his skin and it is sticking...NOT good. I try to get him to drink water/pop/juice...but the man does not have any desire for beverages, he never really did - so I stress the importance this to him...but he won't do it. I wonder if the chemo takes away thirst? Hmmm

Okay, I was wondering about the staging...if they revert back, etc., so thank you for explaining that.

Let us know how your Dad is doing, and hang in there...this is not easy, I know.

Mary, glad to hear the good news. I havent replied to you as of yet just new to the boards and was reading alot of the posts for now. But my father has non small cell lung cancer stage 3. He is on chemo once a week and radiation every day or mon-thru-fri. Anyway I was wondering about the dehydration and hadnt heard of this side affect. He is suffering right now with an inflamation in his esophagus or I hope that is what it is caused by the radiation, the doctors say. Anyway should we watch for the dehydration with him, can the chemo he is receiving once a week cause the dehydration he is on a small amount but I guess any amount is harmfull. Well other than the eating problems and just the wore out tiredness all in all he is okay. He lives in Fl. and I am in Al and will go see him friday for the weekend. I hope all is well with you and your husband my prayers go out to everyone. Thanks for your time Eva

Mary, what is happening? I check the board almost daily hoping to get an up date. My husband is also stage four. I asked the questions I got from you and finally some straight answers.
Keep the faith...
Cheryl
