Question Adencarcinoma

My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with a 4cm adencarcinoma in her left lung, it has affected some lymph nodes in the left lung, but it has not spread to anywhere else outside the left lung. She is 70 years old and never has smoked.

Does anyone know anything about this type of cancer, ie. adencarcinoma?

Try a Google search. I think it should be spelled Adenocarcinoma. Prepare yourself because it is not good...my husband only lasted 10 months after the biopsy...

Cheryl:

I know from another post that your husband recently passed away...I am so sorry, and I give you tremendous credit for continuing to help people on this board; you are a very strong person.

If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me if your husband's had spread to any other parts of his body? Did they do any surgery on him? When he was diagnosed, did they give him a "time"?

Any info you could give would be helpful. I know this is a bad situation for my MIL but I feel the more I know, the better I'll be able to handle things as they come.

Thank you!
Joan

Hi Joan, here goes. Danny broke a rib in Sept. We went to the Dr. every month or so and xrays were taken. Finally, in March a CTscan was ordered. In April a CTscan w/biopsy proved to be cancer. We then were rushed to a cancer Dr. where the ball realy started moving. Radiation and Chemo. I asked the radiation Dr. what stage Danny was in and was given this, " I really don't like to talk stages but the cancer is too advanced for surgery". June and July looked promising and then at the end of July the cancer started growing with a vengence. The Chemo Dr. said Stage iv. I wasn't sure if Danny knew what that meant but I sure did. The pain in the rib started getting out of control so in November Morphine was given in a drip until a dose could be measured. He came home for Thanksgiving then on Dec. the 5th, Hospice was called in. Methodone was substituted for Morphine so he was a lot more alert. He never one time complained or lost his sense of humor. He was teasing us the Day he died.
I don't know how I will be able to live without him...35 years wasn't enough. I still remember things we did in School. When he showed up for school...
Thank you, Joan for letting me talk about him again. Cheryl

Cheryl,

You made me cry....what a sad story but beautiful just the same in how much you love him. As sad as it is that he had this horrible disease, he was lucky to have someone love him through it. And that you are so strong to continue helping others...I am so sure he'd be proud of you.

God bless you always,
Joan
