Smile My pain is getting better

Hello everyone, I have good news about my pain level. About 6 weeks ago my nerologist started me on Lamictal to help the the nerve endings in my back. I had tried Neruontin and got no relief at all. He said it would take a month or 6 weeks before I saw any results and also I had to work up to a full dose very gradually. Well for the past week or so I can say my pain is signifantly better most of the time and I havent' even worked up to the full dose. There are now many days when I dont' have to take any pain meds. This is the first time since my surgery on 3/2/04 that I hav'nt had to take pain meds every day and even when I did by nightime I would still be in pain around 6 or 7. I really did'nt think I'd ever be without pain. I'm not saying that every day is pain free, when the weather turns cold it will hurt for a day or so but nothing as bad as in the past. If any of you suffer from nerve pain and have not gotton good results with Neruotin you might as your Dr. about Lamictal. It had really helped me.

Re: My pain is getting better

Toelle, I am so happy to hear you are getting some pain relief. You've gone through so much, it's about time this is happening! Thanks for sharing this with us. I've never heard of Lamictal- is it a drug that acts similarly to Neurontin? Keep us posted on how you're doing!

Lamictal: psychiatric medication, used for bi-polar disorder and convulsions.

I have done a lot of research on this medicine and no one is quite sure how it works. But, it you develop a rash, call your doctor, immediately. I am really surprized that it was give to you for pain.
