HDL is extremely good, TC is about 246 but ratio is good (TC/HDL=abt 3).

Yes LDL is high but you could try non-drug methods first before considering statins.

Re: Hello...I have high LDL

Basically it means that you should not have to do anything. Your HDL is great, and so are your triglycerides. Your high HDL more than offsets the LDL. Just say no to statins. It's as simple as that. I hope your doctor has sense enough to agree.

Re: Hello...I have high LDL

Numbers are good...but a doctor operating by rote will say LDL's are high and TC is high and probably want to put you on a drug.

The choice will be in your hands.

You might want to look at ALL your risk factors. If you were an overweight male smoker with two parents with heart disease, I'd medicate. If young female non-smoker with little heart disease in the family, I wouldn't.

Let us know what your doctor says.

Soozzee03,

If you do not have any heart problems, then forget about those drugs. You don't need them. Your numbers place you in good standing.

Lenin,

By the way, what are you doing up so late?
