Black Teeth

My husband (who never goes to the dentist) just noticed that the two wisdom teeth that he got in a few years ago, are black. I looked and they are definately black. He says they are not painful or anything. Any idea why this would be?? He is not on any meds. He was taking some anti-depressants for a few years - possibly around the time the teeth came in. He does not know if they came in like this or if they turned black recentley. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Re: Black Teeth

Sounds like the nerve died. Wisdom teeth are strange, I guess that could happen for no reason.

Re: Black Teeth

is the tooth completely black ? or just a side part black? Because I have noticed the side of one of my molars is black. Also worried.

Re: Black Teeth

His whole tooth was black. He actually had them removed because the dentist thought they were dead. Once removed the dentist looked at them and changed his mind, thinking it was caused by tetracycline. He was taking it in his teens when the dentist thought the wisdom teeth developed.

With only part of the tooth black I would guess a cavity. Definately have it checked out.
