Newcome needs advice

Hi,

I am new to this board.

I had 6 months recovery from an oxycontin addiction. I cold turkeyed 120 mgs a day.

Recently, I started using again. Hydrocodone this time. I have weaned myself down to 30 mgs after using for a couple months.

The plan is to CT tomorrow, last day of the work week, so I will have the weekend to get over the worst?

I was just wondering if anyone knows how bad this will be? The OC CT was pretty awful and lasted over a week. I am hoping that since I only used short term and have gotten down to a low dose this will not be as awful. Also, from my understanding, hydrocodone is not as addictive as OC?

Can anyone tell me what to expect? It's the not knowing that makes it worse. And I have to be back at work on Monday.

Thanks for any input.

Brent

Since you did an OC Ct already then the hydro Ct should be fairly easy for you. You'll probably experience similar withdrawal problems as you did with the OC but they will not be as strong. Remember to take ibuprofen for the aches and make sure to drink lots of water and gatorade. Good luck this weekend. You can do it.

Thanks for the reply. The OC withdrawal was pretty intense. I went into it with a positive attitude but by the fourth day I thought I was going to die and by the fifth, I was afraid I wouldn't.

I expect this won't be as bad. I hope not. I do have to work through it. I've been at 30 mgs for a week now getting ready. Had some mild withdrawal with the dose reduction but nothing I couldn't function with.

Got a pocket full of Immodium and some Restoril to help me sleep. I'm taking Bayer Body/Back pain because it has caffeine and I remember how fatigued I felt the first time.

Hi Brent and Welcome!
Just wanted to chime in and wish you the best. I think, you're right, by comparison (to an Oxy w/d) it will be little less intense but not a piece of cake by any means. Try to keep your eye on the prize and know that the end result will be it's own reward! I will keep you in my prayers and remember to post if you need support. There is usually someone around. Don't forget to drink lot's and lot's of water and Ensure shakes if you can't keep food down. (right Windy?) It will keep your strength up.
Hang in there!
