Question Growth on base of tongue

I had a scope yesterday due to constant throat clearing and a growth at the base of my tongue was discovered. I go for a cat scan 8-20 and he has already told me it will have to be removed, biopsied, etc. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has had this and what percentage turn out to be benign. I am an ex smoker so very worried. Especially since this throat clearing has been going on for over a year and they've just kept giving me different allergy medicine and nose sprays etc.

I too have found a similar growth on my tongue and have had problems over the past year with clearing my throat. What did you find out about your situation??
