Concerned

im 16 and i am a pretty energetic person who rarely is tired. even if i sleep late, i am always quite chipper in the morning all the way till late hours of the night. recently i cant even keep my eyes open past 9 at night and in the morning, i find it awful difficult to get up, to the point where i dont even want to go to school anymore. ive been so tired, that at 10 at night i was talking with my friend on the phone on a saturday after doing nothing all day, i fell asleep. ive never had that happen. to say the least, im quite fatigued. i have also had some weird bruises. there was this large weird colored one in the shape of a circle on my leg. i had not remembered bumping into anything or anything that would have caused a bruise...and this one looked like a result from a hard fall. it was bright blue...like a vein at first then turned a weird brown and now its purple and green. i noticed another one a little while after the first one. it was on my upper thigh. then today i just looked at my leg, and theres another small circular blue one. im not doing anything that would cause these bruises on my leg...and the first one has been there for 3 weeks!! is there any way someone can bruise without physical injury? HELP!

Sounds like anemia.

Anemia, or low iron levels in the blood, can cause fatigue and bruising. It's a common disorder in women.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to see a physician just to make sure that this is what the problem is. It can be determined with a simple blood test.

If you are anemic, you'll be encouraged to eat plenty of iron-rich foods, such as red meats, and green leafy vegetables. Your physician may also recommend a vitamin or iron tablets.
