My upper back and neck went "out" shortly after starting zoloft and the docs just said that it was because of my lower back problems. The zapping, buzzing, tinnitus, and severe muscular pain was from my neck and pinched nerves. They wanted me to do a triple fusion on my neck to get rid of the pain and all of the other symptoms. I am so glad that I did not do it. I would be much worse off than I am now. Unnecessary surgery is not a good thing ever! Are you sure your pain is anxiety related. Did you have it before paxil? Just curious. Would never want someone to go thru the awful time that I have. It has changed my life and relationships significantly. Not good. I still am not 100% sure that my muscle problems are from the zoloft. I do know that all of the zapping and buzzing is. Most people get that when they are going off the drug. For some reason I had it all of the time. Thanks for your help!

Go to a chiropractor.... I had the same thing going on with my neck a few years ago and got the run around from dr's for a long time till I decided what the heck, I'll go to a choripractor... Most of my pain was gone just after the first visit!!!!! I suffered so much from pain before seeing him.. Anyway, I had 2 months of treatments at chiropractor & my neck is fine now. No more knots in back, shoulder & neck muscles either... I had FHP (forward head posture) which people get from long periods of sitting at a computer or driving, etc with your posture not correct, head forward, slumped over a bit so to speak... So, it was causing pressure on some nerves in my neck that after the chiropractor took care of is no more.. I had the zaping smasms like you mentioned.. My brother also, recently was having numbness in his arms and muscles pain in the neck, back, shoulders too but he doesn't have anxiety or anything like that so, I told him to go to the chiropractor.. After his first treatment he told me that about 80% of his pain was already gone.. Right now he has a 2 month treatment plan like I did except he goes 3 times a week where as I went 2 times a week. Make sure you find a TRUSTWORTHY chiropractor though.. I've hear from others that some will tell you something is wrong when it's not. Believe me, if it is related to your spine & can be fixed by manipulation therapy then you WILL know it by how you feel... My reliefe was within 10 seconds or so after my first treatment. I did need more to keep it that way until my spine (in neck area) was trained so to speak to stay in place.
Good luck,
T.
