Re: Mono?

Hi Veg,
Your friend must have had mono (a virus) combined with a bacterial infection such as strep to be on antibiotics, since mono isn't a bacterial infection. If your friend was still in the really active stages of mono/strep (ie: really sore, infected throat, fever) it is conceivable that you could catch it - since they are both spread through saliva. However, the liklihood is low that you will get it. If you have already had it the chances are almost nil. Hope this helps, j.

Re: Mono?

hi there,

I believe it is quite possible for you to catch mono from her. I had it a few years ago after drinking after someone who had it. The thing was she did not show any signs of mono till it was already too late. I would wait and see what happens and hopefully you have a strong immune system and will not get it. Good Luck

Re: Mono?

Aye, I also caught it from sharing drinks with pals, when I was 14. Pretty nasty.. can really knock you for six for a few months. I would try and build up my immune system right now, just in case.. but fingers crossed you'll be alright.

Re: Mono?

Most people have immunities to mono, since most have had it and just don't know it. When I had mono, no one around me got it.. and my mom even accidently used my toothbrush while I had it. I caught mono from a telephone at work, but my resistance was also very low, because I was going through depression at the time.
