Sara?

Hi girl~
Just wondering how you're doing these days sweetie. Hope you are well and just busy. Give us a quick update if you can. You know how we "jewish mothers" tend to worry - lol!
Sending love,
El

Re: Sara?

Hi Ell ! What is happening today in your part of the world? I have GROWN sooooooo much in the past few weeks! Wow! It seems Im transforming into a butterfly after being sober and in the program for almost 7 months. First, 4 weeks ago I had acute apendicitis and had to get an emergency adendectomy, I took 7 out of 30 darvocet the hospital gave me to go home with and took em only when I was in pain and flushed the rest- you guys helped me here too, thanks!

One day I was with one of my friends I met in AA and we went by the animal shelter because I had been wanting to get an adult cat that needed a home... well this "cutie" named Morris picked ME! He is soooooo sweet. He acts like a dog! Very affectionate, and lets my 3 year old do anything with him. Well 24 hours after I brought him home he started coughing and sneezing real bad, looked it up on the internet and found out poor Morris had a Upper Resp Infection. He did not eat for 7 days. It was tough, everyday I fed him through a dropper and gave him meds. After two long weeks of taking care of him... he was fine! But then I got deathly ill with Lyarangitis, Bronchitis, and walking peumonia!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was in the hospital getting my appendix out I think it started then because I was unable to cough because my stomach hurt so bad. So over the next 3 weeks, it turned really nasty fast, and I was down, sick in bed for two weeks. I completely lost my voice, and had to take Biaxin.

So if that is not enough drama for about a six week period, then the guy Ive been dating for 3 years breaks up with me because Im not giving him enough attention. And it's true I havent, because since Ive been going to meetings everyday, I am seeing things in a whole different light. My two little girls come first, and the problem with this guy Ive been dating is if Im not constantly "needing" him- he is not happy. And instead of being a source of comfort to me- he has become a source of stress. So Im now going through getting all of his "stuff" back to him. Boxing things up and planning the trip over to his house tomorrow while he is not at home.

Ell, You and everyone else have been thought about... I just had drama after drama recently. Im glad Dallas is fine. Just without a computer... Lisa is on vacation in Salem, Patty sounds great, have you heard from Lynn? We need to keep all of our ducklings in the nest, or at least keep track while they are out.

Have you stopped taking Ultram completely or are you still having to take it for your pain? Let me know, let me know...

Oh, I almost forgot, Im still not working, I took my 8 year old to the elementary I went to when I was a little girl! It was so great walking through the halls, picturing the cake walks, walking through the auditorium where all the plays were at! The really weird thing is.... I noticed there were things I saw at my elementary today that I had been dreaming about. Then I realized that my memory is really starting to come back now! After 7 months! I have days where there will be a ton of things that slowly come back that I thought were lost forever for all those years of hydrocodone abuse!
Did that happen to you???

I love you!

Re: Sara?

Oh Sara, I too often think about you and miss you as well as many others on here! I am so glad that after all that drama things are going well for you!

After reading about your cat, i have to tell you!!!!! I too went through a very similar situation. My hubby went to the animal shelter and adopted an adult cat. We only had him a week or two and he started the coughing and the sneezing (and i mean he was bringing stuff up and had alot of mucous) and as you know i have a severely handicapped little boy. Well let me tell you, a few days after the cat became ill so did my boy and was hospitalized! We adopted the cat in like December 3 or 4 years ago. Anyway my boy and the cat both cleared up and then like a month or two later the SAME thing happened AGAIN!!!!

The next winter the cat had another bout of the same illness and now is pretty healthy and doesnt get sick to often, and i am happy to say neither does my boy! lol Anyway, now let me tell you about my little doggies that i adopted from the shelter. My nephew whom i have custody of is a child who just wont keep his face out of the dogs faces!!!!! Last winter my nephew had a really bad cold and low and behold the little doggies started sneezing and snotting and just layed around the house sooooo sick. I took the dogs to the vet and he said that they had an upper respiratory infection, the vet then proceeded to ask me if anyone in the house had been sick and i told him about my nephew and how he wont keep his face away from the dogs faces. The vet told me that the dogs had caught their cold from my nephew! I was completely floored!!!!! The vet began to tell me how animals can very easily contract human colds and illnesses! I had just never really believed it before then but i found out very quickly how true it is after lots of $ from the vet bills!!!! lol I just had to share that with you!

Anyway, i am so glad to hear that you are happy and you are doing so well! You are an inspiration to many of us here. You also sound like a wonderful mommy to your little girls, they are sooooooo lucky to have you for their mother. You keep doing what you are doing and try to post more often....please!!!! So many of us here need your inspiration and to draw strength from you.

Re: Sara?

Valley,
I love ya and miss you too, thank you for letting me know how you are doing. Yes... I know all to well about the mucus and sneezing, they wont eat cuz they cant smell. We are all sneezing today, Houston is very bad if you have allergies!

The program and the people Ive been in AA, are saving my life everyday! I also think the reason I have stayed sober and in the program is because I sat in meetings while I was detoxing in rehab, I saw first hand how ugly it can get. I never want to be there again, its so scarey.

My three yr old is calling me, I will write more later, hmmm.
Love, Sara
